Hi all,

Just want to drop a few lines with regard to a dive experience on St-Maarten. Beginning of March 2007 I went for a dive holiday to Saba, StMaarten and St-Eustatius. Diving in the Carribean is excellent. I enjoyed nice dives at Saba with Saba Divers and at St Eustatius with Golden Rock Diving. These dive schools are excellent.

My dive at St-Maarten with Dive Adventures or Aquamania Adventures at the Pelican Key Resort was a complete disaster. It were the worst dives of my live. The dive environment is excellent, but the above mentioned dive school should be put out of business.

I originally booked two days of diving. After first boat trip with two dives I cancelled the second day. THe reason for cancelling was the most senior dive master at that school. The guy was called Many.

At the first dive a wreck dive at the Carib cargo. He did all things wrong. Instead of guiding he took a camera of one of the tourist and started taking pictures. This is still ok, but what was not ok was that he took pictures the entire dive. So our group saw nothing of the wreck. At the first Coral growing stone he started pestering a murene so that he could make a nice picture. The animal was complete shocked of fear. Many was even poking with a stick of metal which he found on the ocean floor. After making some more pictures, he went directly to the top of the wreck to take pictures of a small octupus. Again he broke off a piece of metal of the wreck to drive the octupus out of hiding to make pictures. When he returned the camera to the tourist he still kept harassing the animal. So that other divers could see it. He even wanted them to touch coral in order to see the octopus better. When I showed my dismay under water he pretended not to understand. When we reached the surface he accused me of eating a lobster as being worse than pestering animals. At this dive, there were some open water divers who made their first dive. What an example for these new divers scaring away the animals. This gay is killing his own living.

After some discussion on board with the other divemastes, while waiting for the second dive, he did not speak to me and totally ignored me. He accused me of being an environmentalist.Who was the customer one figures.

At the second dive Many just caried on. After five minutes he picked up a lobster. This creature was scared the dayligths out of him when pulled out under a ledge. That was clearly visible by the movememnts. At that point I decided that I had enough of this gay and joined another diving group of the same boat. At the end of the dive I saw Many again on the wreck of a small sailing boat which was sunk one year ago. This divemaster went in and tore some pieces of the wreck. He was wrecking the wreck.

After surfacing again and having returned to the shore, I confronted the dive school owner. He made it clear that he does't condone this behaviour. On the other hand at the end he did also nothing against Many. He did not even composate me for the two worst dives of my life.

This Many should be expelled from Padi for life with the behaviour he shows and should be fired from the dive school. I'm still awaiting the reaction of Padi. But since the dive school did not fire him, although less senior divemaster encouraged me to expose this behaviour (the are obviuosly also annoyed by it), we as divers should not dive with this school anymore.

So I hope that this review has the effect I want. Bad divemaster destroy the Coral, set bad examples for new divers and scare away the fish. Not going to this dive school preserves the coral, reef and the fishes.
